Sarah Gerats, Esther Horvath, Alexander Kluge, Britta Marakatt-Labba, Linda Jasmin Mayer, Judith Neunhäuserer, Walter Niedermayr, Nicolás Rupcich, Sophie Schmidt, Guido van der Werve, Lena von Goedeke, Lois Weinberger.

Co-curated by Judith Neunhäuserer.

This group exhibition brings together contemporary artists’ explorations of the cryosphere, encompassing all forms of frozen water in Earth’s climate system. Through videos, photographs, documented performances, drawings, and objects, the exhibition offers diverse perspectives and reflections on ice and snow. Going beyond scientific descriptions, the cryosphere becomes a canvas for artistic imagination. Many of the depicted locations in the artworks
are far-flung – from Svalbard and Greenland to Alaska and Scandinavia.

Judith Neunhäuserer, as co-curator, has also invited friends from their residences in the Arctic and Antarctic to participate in this exhibition. We would also like to express our warmest thanks to Studio Walter Niedermayr and Studio Weinberger for their loans, as well as Monitor, Rome, Lisbon, and Pereto, and Galerie Sabine Knust, Munich.

Judith Neunhäuserer

Galleria Doris Ghetta has gained a new young position with Judith. We are very pleased that she has joined as a gallery artist.

Judith Neunhäuserer (1990, Bruneck, Italy) lives and works in Munich and Milan. She studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts and religious and cultural studies at Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich, as well as at Bilgi University in Istanbul. Expeditions have taken her to the Neumayer-Station III in Antarctica, sailing to Svalbard, crossing the Atlantic aboard the CMA CGM Puget, to the Spanish underground laboratory LSC Canfranc, and to archives in Cambridge and London. She recently returned from South Korea.

In her artistic practice, she engages in attempts of demarcation as well as aesthetic and epistemic similarities between science and religion. In addition to exhibitions, she presents her research through lectures, discussions, and publications. International solo exhibitions have taken place at Art Polygon, Gwangju, Korea; Kunstinsel, Munich, Germany; Goldstein Galerie with the Art Ashram collective, Frankfurt, Germany; basement (with Cornelia Mittendorfer), Vienna, Austria. She has also participated in numerous group exhibitions and several residencies (including Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris and Residency 11:11 in London), and has received awards (including: NEUSTART KULTUR scholarship from the Kunstfonds Bonn Foundation, Germany; Erwin and Gisela von Steiner Foundation, Munich, Germany; Alexander Tutsek Foundation, Munich, Germany). We look forward to informing you soon about her competition wins.

Sophie Hirsch
STAGE Messe

Bregenz

The premiere of STAGE Bregenz at the Festspielhaus was a resounding success.

Elisa Lammer, curator of Liste and lecturer at the University of Basel, invited us, along with Sophie Hirsch, to the first edition of Stage Bregenz. Sophie delivered an extremely impressive presentation there and received many positive responses from the audience and curators, including an invitation to exhibit at Kunstraum Dornbirn and several mentions in the press, including FAZ.

Hirsch's distinctive artistic vision blurs conventional boundaries and seamlessly merges design elements with sculptural forms, resulting in a captivating blend of passive observation and active engagement. In this immersive environment, visitors are invited to embark on a journey of discovery and experience interactive moments that encourage them to physically engage with the artworks, thereby continuing an experiential approach to art appreciation.

On February 15th, Adriana Ghimp gave an impressive performance during the opening of her exhibition. She presented her own biography through music and song in a compelling manner.

Born in 1996 in Chișinău, Moldova, Adriana Ghimp's artistic exploration focuses on a highly performative drawing practice. This practice delves into physical experience and extends it into space, aiming to transcend physical boundaries through intense interaction within the components of the performance. These interactions include the intention to leave traces on a surface, showing auditory intuition and tactile perception of the materials and tools used. Auditory perception takes on particular significance: before and during the performative act, sounds inspire and guide the artist's gestures, while body movements generate additional sounds through interactions with surfaces and surrounding materials. These elements merge into a dynamic and non-hierarchical process where spontaneity is diffuse.

Pietro Moretti

Bologna

It was a great pleasure for us to be invited by curator Davide Ferri to the painting section of the 21st century at the Arte Fiera in Bologna. We experienced enormous interest in his work.

Pietro Moretti's oil and watercolor paintings interweave narratives in an atmosphere between the everyday and the fantastical. Drawing on the imagery of fairy tales and fables, his works reflect the ambivalence of feelings in intimate relationships and the complexity of desire and identity in contemporary forms of masculinity. In their works, the focus is on the body as a intersection between the personal and the social, often examining the relationship with illness in Western societies. Through a dialogue between the figurative and the non-figurative, their work emphasizes the inconsistencies and the awkward incompleteness of pictorial representation, questioning the unreliability of narratives and the permeability between psychological and physical realities.

It was very nice to present this dialogue between two Ladino artists from different generations: Tobias Tavella (*1990) and Hugo Vallazza (*1955), who, with the help of their figurative instruments, speak about the relationship between culture and nature.

The exhibition in our premises in Milan was extremely experimental. Tobias's sound installations and the tranquil paper works in the large room made a strong impression on the audience.
