Pietro Moretti

Pietro Moretti (Rome, 1996) lives and works in Berlin. He graduated from the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London, where he completed his Bachelor of Arts between 2016 and 2020.

Working primarily in watercolor and oil paint, Moretti constructs suspended narratives in which the everyday intersects with the fantastical, while the body becomes a site through which what remains unspoken resurfaces: tensions, lies, frailties, pain, and contradictions of desire emerge through gestures, distortions, and unstable presences.

His recent practice has been shaped through a growing presence in both gallery and institutional contexts. In 2025 he presented the solo exhibition Selve at Unosunove gallery in Rome. Earlier solo exhibitions include Le storture del cactus at Galleria Doris Ghetta (2023), La carrozza porosa e altri inizi at Palazzo Previtera (2022), and Il rossore dell’asino at Galleria Doris Ghetta in Ortisei (2022).

Among his most relevant recent institutional appearances are Sensing Painting at Castello di Rivoli Museo d'Arte Contemporanea (2023), Pittura Italiana Oggi at Triennale Milano (2023), the 23rd Premio Cairo at Museo della Permanente (2024), and Drive Me Acid at Museo Laboratorio Arte Contemporanea (2024). In 2024 he also participated in Section: Pittura XXI curated by Davide Ferri at Arte Fiera with Galleria Doris Ghetta.

His work has also been shown internationally in group exhibitions such as Le cose che non sappiamo at Romero Paprocki Galerie in Paris (2025) and Inneres Auge at Galerie Mazzoli in Berlin (2024).

Moretti’s painting develops a visual language in which intimacy, psychological tension, and symbolic distortion coexist, generating images suspended between tenderness and disquiet, where narrative remains open and emotionally unstable.
