Walter Moroder
Walter Moroder (born 1963 in Val Gardena) is an Italian sculptor who lives and works in Ortisei, South Tyrol. Trained in the studio of his father David Moroder, who taught him the secrets of the centuries-old woodcarving tradition of Val Gardena, Moroder then studied with Prof. Hans Ladner at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, learning about the human body and its representation. Set in a timeless atmosphere, his life-sized sculptures radiate serenity and invite to quietness and reflection. As if in front of a mirror, the viewers are confronted with themself and perceives the vital energy that animates them and which they share with other human beings.
